Replatforming an investment plan off a retiring modelling tool
Replatform
An investment plan moved off a retiring modelling tool onto one governed, scalable model, with scenario modelling built in.
The engagement: existing, as built, in production
Existing
The challenge
Legacy planning models on a retiring modelling tool were being phased out group-wide. The investment plan had to serve IFRS planning, regulatory solvency assessments and market-impact studies, but it ran on fragmented spreadsheet processes with no governance, consistency or room to grow. Finance and asset management needed one centralised, auditable model that answered quickly.
As built
What we built
- The investment plan replatformed to Foundry on a modular, scalable architecture
- Core analytics centralised, so methodologies stay consistent across business units
- Real-time scenario modelling and data validation embedded in the model
In production
The impact
- One governed platform serves every planning and analytical use case, with far less manual effort
- Real-time responsiveness, so decisions no longer wait on a recalculation cycle
- A base ready for regulatory, sustainability and strategic planning still to come

The same problem elsewhere
The same move applies to any planning model that lives in a retiring tool or a web of spreadsheets: production planning, capital allocation, fleet or network plans.
- Insurance & reinsurance
- Investment and capital plans off legacy modelling tools onto one governed model.
- Manufacturing & engineering
- Capacity and capital-expenditure plans that still run on linked spreadsheets.
- Energy & utilities
- Generation and grid investment plans that must answer regulators and the board from one model.
- Public sector
- Multi-year budget and asset plans spread across departments’ own workbooks.
