Planning
Replacing spreadsheet planning for 250 users
One platform
250+ people and numerous systems onto one planning platform, replacing spreadsheets circulated by email.
The engagement: existing, as built, in production
Existing
The challenge
A move to IFRS for external reporting required the planning, forecasting and projection landscape to change with it. The existing systems gave no transparency into the business logic they implemented, and the transition had to be aligned across many teams and regions.
As built
What we built
- Manual planning and projection processes revamped to run on Foundry
- Input collection standardised across every contributing team and region
- Processes and the system landscape streamlined together, not separately
In production
The impact
- One central hub for the whole planning and projection cycle; spreadsheets circulated by email and chat retired
- 250+ people and numerous systems and modules unified on one platform
- Modules co-developed with the business, integrating previously dispersed components such as cash flow into one place

The same problem elsewhere
The same consolidation applies to any planning cycle that runs on workbooks passed between teams: sales and operations planning, budget rounds, workforce plans.
- Insurance & reinsurance
- Group planning and projection cycles across business units and regions, off email and spreadsheets.
- Manufacturing & engineering
- Sales and operations planning assembled from plant and regional workbooks every month.
- Healthcare & life sciences
- Budget and capacity planning across hospitals, departments or sites on circulated spreadsheets.
- Public sector
- Departmental budget rounds collected by email, with the logic locked in a few people’s workbooks.
