Three systems into one, and a run cost cut by 90%
Consolidation
A 26-year-old claims application and two other systems consolidated onto Foundry: one record per policy and life, and the run cost down from $10M to $1M a year.
The engagement: existing, as built, in production
Existing
The challenge
A life and health business ran on a 26-year-old claims application plus a separate platform costing $8M a year and no longer fit for purpose. Premium, policy, lives and claims data sat in different systems with no single policy record, and the run cost reached $10M a year across three systems.
As built
What we built
- The legacy claims application migrated to Foundry, consolidating premium, policy, lives, claims and assessment management into one platform
- Inbound statements from 40+ counterparties integrated, with AI-assisted assessment evaluation embedded
- Migration in tranches with parallel-run reconciliation, so live claims handling was never interrupted
In production
The impact
- $10M to $1M a year: a 90% reduction in operating cost by retiring the failing platform and decommissioning three legacy systems
- One Foundry platform for the whole book: a single application replaces three, with one record per policy and life
- New functionality rather than a lift-and-shift, with local teams trained to own and extend the platform

The same problem elsewhere
The same consolidation applies to any operation running on an ageing core system beside the newer ones bought to work around it.
- Insurance & reinsurance
- Policy, premium and claims administration consolidated off a decades-old core onto one platform.
- Manufacturing & engineering
- Order, inventory and maintenance systems from different eras folded into one operational record.
- Logistics & transport
- Booking, tracking and billing systems consolidated so one shipment is one record.
- Healthcare & life sciences
- Patient administration, scheduling and billing systems consolidated without interrupting care.
- Public sector
- Case-management systems from different decades consolidated with no break in service.
