Governed
One definition for every financial KPI across a group
One definition
One authoritative definition per financial KPI, with a named owner for every source, figure and calculation.
The engagement: existing, as built, in production
Existing
The challenge
The group’s financial analytical data model sits at the centre of its data landscape, consuming and producing data across models and finance initiatives. It brings together heterogeneous data, definitions and reporting standards from several business lines and risk, which made governance and consistent KPI definitions genuinely hard.
As built
What we built
- A unified financial data model with a robust governance framework: clear ownership for every data source, KPI and element, with definition, owner and calculation logic
- Business-side data stewards validate data before wider release
- Core processes, including the closing cycle, migrated into Foundry on auditable end-to-end pipelines
In production
The impact
- One financial data model across business lines and risk, for cross-domain analysis and consistent reporting
- Closing processes in Foundry exposed hidden dependencies and made the flows traceable
- Email and spreadsheet hand-offs replaced by compliant workflows with auditability and lineage, and a single authoritative definition per KPI

The same problem elsewhere
The same model applies to any group where the same KPI is calculated differently by each division: revenue, utilisation, on-time delivery, cost per unit.
- Insurance & reinsurance
- Financial KPIs defined differently by each business line and reconciled at group level each quarter.
- Manufacturing & engineering
- Overall equipment effectiveness and cost per unit calculated differently at every plant.
- Logistics & transport
- On-time performance and cost per shipment that mean something different in each region.
- Healthcare & life sciences
- Bed occupancy, length of stay and cost per case defined site by site.
